Adult business
Slang expression used to refer to a situation that is adult business; childish behavior is not acceptable
Patois: Mi nah ramp, a big people ting mi a deal wid
English: I’m not playing, I’m dealing with an adult situation
Curse Word
Expression for curse or swear words. The literal translation is “bad word”.
Patois: Wah mek yuh cuss bad wud su much?
English: Why do you curse so much?
Oh my God
Expression of shock or surprised. The literal translation is “box cover”.
Patois: Bax cova! Mi lock mi key inna mi kyar
English: Oh my God! I locked my keys in my car
Asshole
Popular curse word commonly used throughout the Caribbean. It can take on a variety of meanings depending on the context in which it is used. For example, it can be used as a exclamation of shock(similarly to “f**k”), it can be used to refer to someone who is strongly disliked(similarly to asshole) or it can be used to refer to ones ass.
Patois: Yuh betta gi mi mi rasshole money if yuh know wah gud fi yuh!
English: You better give me my f**king money if you know what’s good for you!
